| Additional information |
Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rochefort was one of the more obscure subdivisions of the Löwenstein-Wertheim complex, a county whose lands were split between Catholic and Protestant branches in 1635 and never fully rationalized thereafter. Dominik Constantin ruled the Rochefort line from 1789 until the entire county was mediatized in 1806, absorbed into the Confederation of the Rhine. This 1790 issue was struck remarkably close to the end of meaningful independent coinage authority for the county — within fifteen years, the right to mint would be gone entirely.
