| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, a helmeted shield bearing the star of Waldeck, the escutcheon concave on the sides and pointed at the base, surmounted by a broad plumed helmet with elaborate mantling. The date is divided on either side of the helmet. A mintmaster's symbol appears following the circumferential legend, which reads CHRIS • WOLR • FRA • CO • I • WALD 16 09, identifying the joint counts Christian and Wolrad IV of Waldeck. |
