Additional information

The Peace of Westphalia (1648) ended the Thirty Years' War, a conflict that had reduced Schwäbisch Hall's population and trade to a fraction of their pre-war levels. This klippe was struck exactly one century later to mark that anniversary — a deliberate act of civic memory by a Free Imperial City that had survived occupation, plague, and economic collapse during the war years.

The square klippe format was an archaism by 1748, consciously chosen to evoke earlier commemorative practice rather than contemporary minting norms.
