| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a quartered heraldic shield bearing the arms of Batenburg and Stein, rendered in hammer-struck relief with bold, slightly irregular execution typical of early 17th-century provincial minting. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design, reading MONETA · NOVA · ARGENT · B · I · ST, identifying this as the new silver coinage of Batenburg in Stein. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-hammered production. |
