Additional information

The County of Sulz was a small Swabian territory that spent much of the Thirty Years' War navigating occupation, tribute demands, and shifting allegiances. By 1635 — the year the Peace of Prague was signed, reshuffling Imperial politics dramatically — minor Swabian counts were still striking fractional silver partly to assert jurisdictional legitimacy and partly out of practical necessity, as larger coin denominations had been systematically hoarded or melted. At 0.3 grams, pieces like this were struck on tiny planchets prone to irregular shape and off-center dies, meaning well-centered examples are genuinely scarce.
