Additional information

Struck during the Seven Years' War, when the Bishopric of Würzburg found itself caught between the competing demands of the Habsburg alliance and the devastation of Franconian territories by Prussian and allied forces. Small billon fractions like this one were emergency-grade coinage in all but name — debased, quickly struck, and pushed into circulation to meet wartime fiscal pressure. Adam Frederick von Seinsheim had only assumed the see in 1755, and his early episcopate was consumed almost entirely by the financial strain the war imposed on the chapter.
