Obverse description Centrally positioned quartered shield bearing the arms of Oldenburg: the upper-left and lower-right quarters display horizontal lines (indicative of the traditional Oldenburg tinctures), while the upper-right and lower-left quarters bear a cross pattée, representing the County of Delmenhorst. The shield is surmounted by a large, ornate grand ducal crown. The circular legend reads 'GHZ. OLDENB. SCHEIDE M.' arranged around the upper periphery, separated by a small dot, with a beaded inner border encircling the design.
