Obverse description Central field displays the episcopal arms of Matthaus Schiner: a quartered shield superimposed over crossed crozier and sword in saltire, surmounted by a bishop's mitre, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The shield bears the characteristic Valais and Schiner family heraldic divisions rendered in fine hammered relief. A continuous circular legend in Gothic-influenced lettering surrounds the composition within the outer border.
