| Additional information |
Tromelin is an uninhabited French-administered speck of coral in the Indian Ocean, claimed simultaneously by France and Mauritius, with no resident population, no post office, and no monetary economy. It issues coins purely for the philatelic and numismatic collector market — this piece has never been legal tender in any transactional sense and will never circulate. The "Scattered Islands" designation groups several such territories whose primary administrative function is asserting French sovereignty over exclusive economic zones.
The colorized brass construction is a private-mint convention, not a French treasury product.
