Reverse description Bimetallic coin with a gilt brass inner disc displaying the large numerals '2000' in bold, stylised relief occupying the majority of the centre field, with the two zeros rendered slightly smaller to the right of the prominent '2'. The silver-toned outer ring bears the legend 'MILLENNIUM' arching across the upper portion and 'NOVO TISOČLETJE' (Slovenian: 'New Millennium') distributed along the lower arc, with star-shaped ornamental separators punctuating the field. The overall design is contemporary and commemorative in character, celebrating the turn of the millennium.

Additional information

Slovenia's first commemorative coin issue following independence, struck while the country was still operating with the tolar and nearly a decade away from euro adoption. The denomination itself — 3 euro — had no legal tender basis in any eurozone framework; it was purely a collector's conceit, issued by a country that would not join the eurozone until 2007.
