Italy assumed the G7 presidency in January 2024, a rotating chair it last held in 2017 under the Gentiloni government. The summit itself was held in Puglia in June 2024 — the first G7 hosted in southern Italy. The 3 Euro denomination is a modern Italian commemorative convention with no circulation function; these are struck for collectors and issued at face value through the Poligrafico's direct sales channels.
