| Obverse description | Quarter-circle cut section of a Spanish colonial silver coin, retaining a partial laureate and draped bust of King Charles IV facing right, with visible drapery folds in high relief. The curved left edge bears a crenellated border, with a partial legend reading CAROL visible along the arc. The coin was cut from a host piece — likely a 2 Reales — during the British occupation of Martinique for use as emergency currency. The jagged cut edge occupies the right and lower portions of the piece, while the original milled border survives along the outer arc. |
