| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the rampant lion of Holland, surmounted by an elaborate crown, all within a beaded inner circle. The date 1682 is divided by the crown at the top of the shield. The encircling legend reads MO : NO : ARGENT : COMIT : HOLL, distributed around the periphery in crisp Roman capitals. The overall composition is executed in high relief with fine engraving characteristic of late seventeenth-century Dutch minting. |
