Additional information

Johann Christian and Georg Rudolf inherited Liegnitz-Brieg jointly in 1602 following the death of their father Joachim Friedrich, ruling together under the guardianship of their uncle until Georg Rudolf came of age. The co-rulership arrangement was a direct consequence of Silesian inheritance customs that resisted partition, and the joint-name coinage of this period documents that uneasy shared authority in metal. Multi-ducat issues from small Silesian duchies in this window were produced in limited numbers for presentation and diplomatic purposes rather than commerce.

Friedensburg's cataloguing of Liegnitz-Brieg material remains the foundational reference for this series, and the tight date range of 1610–1613 reflects the period before Georg Rudolf assumed sole administrative functions.
