Obverse description Right-facing draped and armored bust of King Frederick IV, portrayed with a long flowing wig and ornate plate armor, displaying the badge of the Order of the Elephant on his chest. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the baroque portrait style typical of late 17th-century Danish coinage. The surrounding circular legend in Latin is separated by pellets and reads along the coin's periphery.

Reverse description Central device consisting of an elaborate interlaced and mirrored royal cypher composed of two cursive 'F4' monograms of King Frederick IV, elegantly entwined in the baroque manner and surmounted by a royal crown. The date 1700 appears in the lower field flanking the monogram, with the mint master's initials 'IHW' struck below in the exergue. The circular Latin legend is distributed around the periphery of the field.
