Obverse description Right-facing laureate and draped bust of Frederick August I (Augustus II of Poland) occupying the central field, rendered in high relief with elaborate flowing wig and armored shoulder drapery. The portrait is executed in the grand Baroque manner characteristic of early 18th-century Saxon court coinage. A continuous Latin legend encircles the effigy along the periphery, giving the elector's titles as Duke of Saxony, King of Poland, and by the grace of God.
