Reverse description Central circular field features a richly colored naturalistic depiction of two Western Lily (Lilium philadelphicum) blossoms — the floral emblem of Saskatchewan — rendered against a deep black background, with vivid red petals displaying orange-yellow centers accented by dark spots, and green foliage beneath. The central vignette is framed by an elaborate ornate silver border of interlocking scrollwork, acanthus-like flourishes, and bead motifs in high relief. The engraver's initials LT appear at the lower right within the decorative border. The composition is executed in applied color with a reverse proof finish on the surrounding silverwork.

Additional information

Saskatchewan's provincial flower was adopted as an emblem in 1941, chosen partly because the western red lily blooms across the province's native grasslands with enough regularity to be considered genuinely representative rather than aspirational. The Royal Canadian Mint's ongoing provincial flower series has leaned heavily on selective colorization and fine silver to drive collector demand — a formula the mint has refined aggressively since the early 2000s as bullion premiums on small-format commemoratives proved reliably sustainable.
