| Obverse description | The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt, depicted in right-facing bare-headed portrait with her hair styled in a classic upswept coiffure and wearing a pearl necklace. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left rim, and D·G·REGINA along the upper right rim, both in raised Latin lettering. The denomination 3 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower rim. The engraver's initials SB appear discreetly below the Queen's neckline. The portrait is rendered with finely detailed hair texture against a frosted matte field, characteristic of the reverse proof finish. |
