Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susan Taylor, depicting the monarch at approximately 77 years of age in right-facing profile, bareheaded, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The portrait is rendered in a refined, naturalistic style characteristic of Taylor's coinage work for the Royal Canadian Mint. The surrounding legend reads 'ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA' arcing above the effigy, with the denomination '3 DOLLARS' positioned in the lower field.
