Jordan's 1979 International Year of the Child coinage was produced in standard weight for circulation, but this piedfort — struck at roughly double the planchet thickness — was issued specifically for collectors in 1981, two years after the IYC designation itself. Pieforts of Jordanian issues from this period are genuinely scarce; the Central Bank commissioned them in limited numbers through European minting contractors, and they rarely appear outside specialist Middle Eastern collections.
KM#P1 designation confirms this as Jordan's first catalogued piedfort.
