| Obverse description | Cast bronze cash coin bearing four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in the traditional cross-reading order: top (大 Dà), right (中 Zhōng), bottom (通 Tōng), left (寶 Bǎo), surrounding a central raised square perforation. The characters are boldly rendered with well-defined strokes within a plain, slightly raised rim. The field between the central square and the outer rim is smooth and uninscribed. The overall style is characteristic of late Yuan transitional coinage issued under Zhu Yuanzhang's Great Zhong polity. |
