Obverse description Light green guilloche underprint with a geometric lattice pattern fills the note field, enclosed within a double-rule rectangular border. A large stylised numeral '3' with horizontal speed lines occupies the upper centre, flanked left by the serial number prefix 'Litera E Nummer' and right by the denomination '3'000,000 M.' preceded by fine microtext rules. The legend 'MILLIONEN MARK' is set in bold letterpress below the numeral, followed by a multi-line redemption text in German referencing the Reichsbankstelle Augsburg and an expiry date of 9 November 1923. The issue date 'Augsburg, den 15. Comments

Augsburg's city council issued notgeld in enormous face values through 1923 as the Reichsmark's purchasing power collapsed week by week — not month by month. The 3,000,000 Mark denomination reflects a specific window in the hyperinflation when such figures were briefly functional currency rather than satire. J. P. Himmer, a long-established Augsburg commercial printer, produced these locally rather than through the overburdened Reichsdruckerei, which was struggling to keep pace with demand across the entire country.

Himmer's house had been operating since 1842 and was a natural choice for municipal contracts. The printing quality on Augsburg notgeld is generally competent but plainly expedient.
