Obverse description Central crowned quartered shield bearing the arms of the seven United Provinces of the Netherlands, with elaborate cartouche-style heraldic mantling. The composite shield displays the arms of Holland, Zeeland, Utrecht, Gelderland, Overijssel, Friesland, and Groningen in their respective quarters and inescutcheons. A royal crown surmounts the shield. The circular legend surrounds the entire device, rendered in raised Latin lettering separated by pellets.

Reverse description Standing allegorical figure of the Dutch Maiden (Vrijheid) facing left, robed and leaning with her right arm upon a Bible resting atop a column, while her left hand holds an upright spear surmounted by a Liberty cap (pileus). The denomination 28 ST appears divided to either side of the figure in the field, with the date 1694 placed in the exergue below a ground line. The reverse legend in Latin encircles the design.
