Obverse description Within a raised inner circle, a crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed with wings spread occupies the central field, the heads surmounted by a single imperial crown. On the breast of the eagle, a small shield bearing the city arms of Deventer is visible. The surrounding outer legend, struck in Latin, runs along the coin's periphery. The flan is characteristically irregular, as is typical of hammered coinage of this period.
