Obverse description Central field displays the crowned arms of Friesland — a shield bearing two rows of rampant lions — flanked on either side by smaller heraldic supporters, all rendered in bold relief. A royal crown surmounts the shield. The encircling Latin legend is contained within a beaded inner border and reads FLORENVS ARGENT ORDI FRISIӔ, identifying the coin as the silver florin of the States of Friesland. The overall design is characteristic of late Dutch Renaissance heraldic coinage.
