| Obverse description | Central field displays the national arms of Mongolia — the Soyombo symbol surmounted by a flame finial, flanked by two stylized dragons and resting on a decorative base incorporating the yin-yang motif — all set within a radiant sunburst pattern. The denomination '2500' appears at the top of the field, with 'MONGOLIA' inscribed along the right periphery. Traditional Mongolian script legend is present on the left side of the field. Mongolia's large-format silver issues of the early 2000s were produced primarily for the European collector market, with the Bank of Mongolia contracting several foreign mints to strike commemorative pieces tied to the Chinese lunar calendar — a somewhat ironic program given Mongolia's historically fraught relationship with its southern neighbor. The Rooster year series attracted particular attention from thematic collectors, and mintages were kept deliberately low to sustain secondary market premiums.
