| Obverse description | Central field features the royal emblem of Bhutan: an ornate circular design depicting two dragons facing each other and holding a jewel, surrounding a central thunderbolt (dorje) motif, all rendered in high relief on a mirror-like proof field. The legend KINGDOM OF BHUTAN arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script, while the date 1996 appears on both sides of the central device. Dzongkha script lettering is inscribed below the central emblem along the lower field. |
