| Obverse description | The arms of the Republic of Senegal occupy the central field, featuring a quartered shield with a rampant lion to dexter and a baobab tree to sinister, with wavy lines in base, the whole encircled by a wreath of olive branches surmounted by a five-pointed star. A ribbon below the shield bears the national motto UN PEUPLE UN BUT UNE FOI in three sections. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU SENEGAL arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 2500 FRANCS OR curves along the lower periphery. A small Pobjoy Mint mark (PM) appears in the lower field beneath the shield. |
