Obverse description The obverse presents a nature-themed decorative field surrounding the mature effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, bare-headed, wearing a necklace and earrings, facing right — the portrait attributed to sculptor Susanna Blunt as used on Canadian coinage depicting the Queen at 77 years of age. The legend is accompanied by the dual commemorative dates '1952' and '2022,' separated by four pearls symbolising the four successive royal effigies that appeared on Canadian coinage during Her Majesty's reign. The outer legend reads ELIZABETH II D G REGINA in Latin, denoting her title as Queen by the Grace of God. The initials 'SB' appear in the field, attributing the effigy to its designer.
