The "Jewelled Snake" belongs to Perth Mint's Lunar Series III, which launched in 2020 to coincide with the third full cycle of the Chinese zodiac calendar since the series began in 1996. At 10 troy ounces of .9999 fine gold, this is one of the heaviest standard-issue collector pieces the Perth Mint produces annually, and mintages for the 10 oz proof format are typically capped in the low hundreds. The 6th Portrait designation refers to the Jody Clark effigy of Elizabeth II, introduced across Commonwealth coinage in 2015 — making this among the final issues to carry it before her death in September 2022 rendered the portrait retrospectively terminal.
