| Reverse description | The reverse faithfully re-creates carved imagery from the original red cedar Dance Screen panel created by renowned Haida master carver Chief James Hart (7IDANsuu). The composition features an assembly of traditional Haida figures including a Shaman, Beaver, Raven, Eagle, Frog, Orca, and Mother Bear with cubs, all rendered in deeply engraved relief that honours the conventions of Northwest Coast Indigenous art. Along the edge of the coin, the Salmon—depicted in both human and animal form—underscores the cultural and spiritual significance of this creature to Haida life. Six pearlescent inlays of responsibly sourced New Zealand abalone shell are set along the coin's periphery, their iridescent aquatic hues evoking the form of traditional Haida copper shields, symbols of wealth and prestige. The reverse legend reads 'CANADA' with the artist's initials 'JH' also present in the field. |
