Obverse description The Somali Republic coat of arms, featuring two leopards as supporters flanking a central shield charged with a star, surmounted by a mural crown, all depicted within a cartouche styled as an ancient Egyptian pharaonic cartouche. The legend 'THE TREASURES OF TUTANKHAMUN' curves along the outer periphery, flanked on both sides by relief panels depicting Egyptian hieroglyphic motifs and winged figures. The denomination '250 SHILLINGS' appears in a rectangular tablet at the base of the cartouche, with the date '2008' inscribed in the lower field below.

Reverse description A highly detailed and colorfully enameled frontal depiction of the iconic Gold Funerary Mask of Tutankhamun, rendered in high relief. The nemes headdress is decorated with blue and gold striped enamel, surmounted by a uraeus cobra in red and gold enamel at the brow. The idealized facial features of the young pharaoh are portrayed with great sculptural precision in gold-plated relief. The striped collar and shoulders are visible at the lower portion of the design, also accented with blue enamel. The legend 'THE GOLD MASK' is inscribed across the lower central field, partially obscured by the collar of the mask, with Egyptian winged motifs decorating the lateral fields.
