Obverse description Central field features a traditional Nepalese tantric yantra design composed of interlocking geometric panels arranged in a cruciform pattern, adorned with symbolic motifs including a crescent moon, sun star, lotus bud, and ritual objects at the cardinal and diagonal points. The royal name of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev is inscribed in Devanagari script across the central panels, reading श्री श्री श्री ५ वीरेन्द्र वीर विक्रम शाह देव. The Vikram Samvat regnal year २०४६ (2046 VS) appears at the base of the yantra. A beaded border encircles the entire design.

Additional information

Nepal's Children's Organization, founded under royal patronage in the 1970s, was tightly bound to the Panchayat political system — the partyless governance structure Birendra inherited from his father Mahendra and formally presided over until 1990, when street protests forced its dismantling. This coin was struck just one year before that transition, making it one of the last commemoratives issued under the old order.
