| Reverse description | The nickel-plated steel centre features a bust-length portrait of Soviet test pilot Grigory Yakovlevich Bakhchivandzhi facing slightly right, inscribed with his name and life dates 1909–1943, accompanied by a Hero of the Soviet Union Gold Star medal. Below the portrait, a three-quarter view of the Bereznyak-Isayev BI-1 rocket-powered aircraft is depicted in high relief, with the date 1942 in the exergue.
