Obverse description Central device of three bound palm branches (lulav), rendered in stylized relief, evoking the ancient Jewish coinage of the First Jewish–Roman War (66–70 CE). The country name appears in Hebrew (ישראל) to the right and in Arabic (اسرائيل) to the left of the central motif, within a plain field. The design is deliberately archaistic, referencing the bronze prutot struck by Jewish rebels under Roman occupation.
