Macao's lunar gold series has been issued continuously since the 1980s, making the dog cycle a third iteration for some denominations. The 2018 issue corresponds to the Year of the Dog beginning January 16th of that year under the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar — the 4716th Chinese year by conventional count.
