Djibouti's numismatic program has long relied on themed collector issues to generate foreign currency revenue — the country's domestic economy offers little else to drive coin sales abroad. This Athos piece is part of a four-coin series drawn from Alexandre Dumas's 1844 novel, itself loosely based on the memoirs of Charles de Batz-Castelmore d'Artagnan and the real musketeers of Louis XIII's reign.
KM#76 sees limited secondary market activity. The series moves primarily through dealer subscription rather than open auction.
