| Reverse description | Central device portrays a detailed rendering of the Soviet Soyuz spacecraft in orbit, depicted in three-quarter perspective against a star-studded field. The spacecraft's solar panels, orbital module, and service module are clearly delineated in fine relief. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DE GUINEE arcs across the upper portion of the field, while the inscription SOJUZ appears along the lower portion. A beaded border frames the design. |

| Additional information |
Issued to mark the Soviet Soyuz space program, this coin was part of a broader wave of Guinean commemoratives produced in the early 1970s under Sékou Touré's government — a period when Guinea maintained unusually close ties with the USSR following its sharp break from France in 1958. That independence vote, the only "no" in the French Community referendum, prompted France to withdraw all aid and personnel within months, leaving Guinea to build new alliances quickly. Soviet technical and financial support followed almost immediately.
The coin was struck by a European contract mint, not in Guinea, which had no domestic minting infrastructure.
