| Additional information |
The White Lion of Mortimer is a heraldic beast drawn from English royal tradition — one of the ten "Queen's Beasts" sculptures commissioned for Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953, themselves based on medieval heraldic supporters. Senegal's participation in this bullion series is purely a licensing arrangement; the country has no historical connection to the imagery, and the CFA franc denomination printed on these pieces bears no relationship to any actual monetary transaction they were ever intended for.
