| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Senegal occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield with a lion passant and a baobab tree, flanked by two symmetrical olive branches and surmounted by a five-pointed star. The legend REPUBLIQUE DU SENEGAL curves along the upper periphery, while the denomination 250 FRANCS CFA is inscribed in the lower field. The motto UN PEUPLE UN BUT UNE FOI appears on a ribbon below the shield. The design is struck in high relief against a polished field, giving a proof-like appearance. |

| Additional information |
Senegal joined a wave of small African CFA-zone nations issuing fractional gold pieces through European minting intermediaries — primarily the Mint of Poland and B.H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt — targeting collector markets with no relationship to domestic circulation. These pieces were never intended for use in Senegal and were not distributed through the BCEAO, the regional central bank that actually governs CFA franc issuance for the West African zone.
