The coat of arms of Djibouti was adopted during the declaration of independence June 25, 1977.

Djibouti francolin (Pternistis ochropectus)facing right (the Francolin is a threatened bird of Djibouti). Gogorri in Somali and Kokaaqe in Afar languages, it is endemic and lives only in the Monts Goda and Mabla (Day and Medeho forests).
