Part of the Monnaie de Paris's long-running series celebrating French cultural heritage, this issue marks the character's 63rd anniversary — Astérix debuted in the pages of Pilote magazine in October 1959, created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. The series has sold over 380 million albums in more than 100 languages, making it one of the best-selling Franco-Belgian comics in history.
At 3g of .999 gold, these are produced for the collector market and see no circulation whatsoever. The 250-euro face value is largely nominal.
