Reverse description A highly detailed aerial-perspective topographical depiction of Juno Beach, Normandy, as it appeared on June 6, 1944, rendered in extraordinary sculptural relief across the entire field of the coin. The composition shows the coastline receding diagonally from lower right to upper left, with Allied landing craft and naval vessels visible in the foreground sea, troops and vehicles on the beach, and the Norman coastal village with buildings, roads, and terrain stretching inland. The dates 1944 and 2019 appear in the upper right field, and the engraver's initials TVG are inscribed in the mid-right field. The deeply antiqued finish enhances the dramatic three-dimensional quality of the scene.
