Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II occupies the central field, depicting the monarch wearing the George IV State Diadem, a drop pearl earring, and a pearl necklace, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished proof field. The portrait, executed after the effigy by Raphael Maklouf, displays finely detailed hair and drapery at the shoulder. The legend CAYMAN ISLANDS arcs along the left periphery, ELIZABETH II along the right, and the date 1990 is positioned centrally at the base.

Reverse description The central field depicts two Supermarine Spitfire fighter aircraft in dynamic low-level flight above a stylised rendering of the white chalk cliffs of Dover and the English Channel below, evoking the Battle of Britain of 1940. A smaller Spitfire is shown in the upper right background, adding depth to the aerial composition. At the upper portion of the field, within a circular frame, appears a portrait medallion of Sir Winston Churchill wearing a homburg hat, positioned above the aircraft. The curved legend 'SO MUCH OWED BY SO MANY TO SO FEW' arcs around the upper periphery, referencing Churchill's famous tribute to RAF Fighter Command. The denomination $250 is inscribed in large characters at the base of the field.
