Obverse description The obverse presents the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by engraver Susanna Blunt, depicting the monarch in right-facing profile as at 77 years of age, her head uncrowned and adorned with a necklace and earrings. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a polished field, with the surrounding legend divided to read 'ELIZABETH II' and 'D·G·REGINA' flanking the denomination '250 DOLLARS' and the date '2014'. The inscription, meaning 'Elizabeth II, Queen by the Grace of God,' is rendered in Latin in incuse lettering along the inner border.
