| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as portrayed at age 77, executed in a refined, mature portrait style. The Queen is depicted bare-headed with her hair styled in a formal coiffure, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The legend arcs around the upper and lower periphery of the field, divided by the portrait. This effigy was modelled by sculptor Susan Taylor and represents the fourth definitive portrait of the Queen used on Canadian coinage. |
