| Reverse description | The reverse is modelled after the historic British Trade Dollar coinage of 1895–1935, depicting a full-length standing figure of Britannia facing left, helmeted and wearing classical drapery. Her right hand grasps a trident and her left hand rests upon an oval shield bearing the Union Flag. A merchantman under full sail is rendered in the background field to the left. The design is enclosed within a traditional Chinese scroll meander border, echoing the decorative framing of the original East India Company Trade Dollars. The circular legend 'THE EAST INDIA COMPANY · TRADE DOLLAR ·' appears within the inner border. |
