The reverse of this silver coin features the Seven Provinces Shield used in Canada from the 1870s to the early 20th century. The shield features a stylized royal crown and the coats of arms of the four founding provinces (Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia) and those that joined Canada shortly after Confederation (Manitoba, British Columbia and Prince Edward Island).
