Reverse descriptionThe design on the reverse is inspired by the Vladimir tiara, which was made with the famous Cambridge emeralds. The Royal Canadian Mint`s engravers worked with renowned jeweller Steve Thompson (of Thompson S.D. Jewellers Ltd.) to integrate gem-setting into the coining process. The result is a rare, meticulously crafted piece reminiscent of the composition of the tiara: diamonds arranged in circles with an emerald in the middle of each. The famous tiara is further evoked in the carefully engraved motif around the piece: 90 circles in honor of the Queen`s 90th birthday, a historic event appropriately highlighted by the double-dated inscription `1926-2016`.
