Additional information

Morocco designated 2004 as the National Year of the Handicapped following a royal initiative by Mohammed VI, who had made disability rights and social integration a visible priority early in his reign. The commemorative program was part of a broader effort to align Moroccan social policy with international frameworks following the UN's 2001 Arab Decade of Disabled Persons declaration.

Mintages for Bank Al-Maghrib commemoratives from this period were tightly controlled, with most silver issues in this series produced in the low thousands.
